Chef Danielle Kitzis's café, bakery and deli by the old market courtyard, open mornings and midday
LaPe (לַפֶּה, "into the mouth") is the café, bakery and deli that chef Danielle Kitzis opened in August 2024 at 14 HaOranim Street, beside the Hatzer HaShuk market courtyard in Pardes Hanna. She was known from the TV contest Game of Chefs and from the challah pop-ups she ran in Tel Aviv during the pandemic, and her team of women bakes and cooks in full view behind the counter. You order and pay at the counter: in the morning there are yeast pastries and challah sandwiches, the egg salad among them until 11:00, and from 11:00 big bowls of salads and small plates for the table. Seating is at communal tables inside and in a large outdoor area, Friday is its busiest day, and on Tuesday evenings it becomes a restaurant with tablecloths, candles and natural wines. Haaretz's Gil Gutkin wrote in 2024 that this time the hype was justified.
