A small Austrian patisserie on Tchernichovsky Street with hand-stretched strudel, Viennese cakes and gelato made on site

Stefan Macher was born in Vienna, trained as a biotechnologist and by his site held senior posts in the pharmaceutical industry in Austria and Israel before a gelato course in Tuscany, a birthday present, sent him back to the craft of his grandmother Ida, a Viennese pastry cook. The patisserie he founded in Tel Aviv stretches its strudel by hand over a cloth until it is almost transparent, sweet with apple, pear, cheese or sour cherry and savoury with spinach and feta, cabbage or mushrooms. Sachertorte, Linzer torte, Esterházy torte and a poppy seed cake are baked each morning from family recipes and served with Julius Meinl coffee. The gelato and sorbet are made on site, in flavours taken from the Viennese counter and from the fruit and spices of the Carmel and Levinsky markets. It is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00.
