A Spanish fish and seafood restaurant on the Tel Aviv seafront, in the water sports centre built where the Dolphinarium stood, with tapas, oysters and a deck facing the sea

Chacoli is a Spanish fish and seafood restaurant on the Tel Aviv seafront, in a glass and iron building that belongs to the city's community water sports centre, which opened in January 2024 where the Dolphinarium had stood. It opened to friends and family on 17 November 2024 and officially on 24 November, after an investment of about 6 million shekels, as Haaretz and mako reported. Chef Guy Gamzu opened it with his partners, the restaurateur Itzik Hangal (Pastel, Helena, Dubnov 8) and Mosh Budnik (Social Club), and chef Yarden Shai, who had worked with Eyal Shani and at Cafe Europa, wrote the menu; she still leads the kitchen. It is named after txakoli, the Basque white wine Hangal imports for it, which the wine list pours by the glass. mako counted 220 seats at the opening, most of them outside on a deck facing the sea, and ynet, which called it the talked-about restaurant of the year in January 2025, described a modern Scandinavian room with a lot of wood and a huge open-air terrace. At the entrance an ice vitrine of fish and seafood leads into a round bar where the cooks and the bartenders work side by side, beside a wall of glass-fronted fridges where whole fish hang to age. The menu runs from montaditos, the small open sandwiches of Spain, and oysters at 12 shekels each, to fried fish and calamari, shrimp and mussels in earthenware dishes, fresh pasta from the pan, and dry-aged fish, octopus and whole fish from the charcoal grill, with sherries, vermouths, cocktails and a long wine list. Since November 2025 its lunch, from Sunday to Thursday, has centred on an Andalusian tray of changing small plates at 39 shekels a guest, and on 1 October 2026 Haaretz opened its list of 16 recommended business lunches with it. It is open every day, straight through from noon on Friday and Saturday, and Walla's Yaniv Granot wrote in January 2026 that it is bustling in the evening. Granot put it second on his list of the ten restaurants most worth going to in July 2025 and again in January 2026, writing that a year after opening it keeps all its promises; Time Out included it among the best restaurants in south Tel Aviv in 2025 and among its recommended casual restaurants in June 2026, and it took first place for fish in Secret Tel Aviv's Food & Drinks Awards 2026.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the hours its booking page on Ontopo gives for the coming week: lunch from 12:00 to 15:30 and dinner from 18:00 on Sunday to Thursday, and straight through from 12:00 on Friday and Saturday, with the kitchen closing at 23:30 and the restaurant at midnight. The same page says the Andalusian lunch tray is served from Sunday to Thursday, 12:00 to 16:00, and not on holiday eves or holidays; Haaretz in October 2026 and Channel 13 in February 2026 gave the lunch deal as Monday to Thursday, 12:00 to 16:00. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has 12:00 to 16:00 and 18:00 to 23:00 from Sunday to Thursday and 12:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. When it opened in November 2024 it served evenings only, from 17:00 to midnight every day, as mako reported. d.co.il gives daytime hours that are not the restaurant's.
