A farm-to-table Mediterranean restaurant from chef Ran Shmueli, in the 1886 Templer winery building in Sarona, with an open kitchen and brunch on Friday and Saturday

Claro is a restaurant in Sarona, the restored Templer colony in the centre of Tel Aviv, on the corner of David Elazar and HaArba'a streets. Its website calls it the first restaurant from the house of chef Ran Shmueli, one of Israel's veteran chefs, who has led culinary ventures for 25 years, and says the name is Spanish for "clear". It fills a Templer building of 1,100 square metres from 1886, built by the Sarona winegrowers' cooperative as the colony's first industrial winery and restored to keep its history. The kitchen is led by chef Tal Feigenbaum, who joined Claro in 2014, whose experience includes Noma in Copenhagen and Martín Berasategui in San Sebastián, and who now oversees Claro in Tel Aviv and in London; the desserts are by pastry chef Ofri Rahav. By its own account the menu is Mediterranean and farm to table, rich in vegetables and fruit, with many vegetarian dishes, and changes daily with the produce to hand; mako wrote in 2022 that some of the vegetables and fruit are grown for Claro especially. The food comes from an open kitchen, which Time Out described in 2017 with a tabun oven and bar seats around it. It is open every day: lunch with a business-lunch deal on weekdays, dinner every evening, brunch on Friday and Saturday mornings and lunch on Saturday. Upstairs, a private room with wall paintings from the Templer period and a balcony over Sarona seats up to 32, and a hall of two linked spaces cut from kurkar stone takes 30 to 200 guests; there is also a covered balcony and a green courtyard. The Red Line's Yehudit light-rail station is about 70 metres away. In November 2025 La Liste gave it 77 points in its list of the world's 1,000 best restaurants for 2026, one of eight restaurants from Israel, as ynet reported. Walla's Yaniv Granot put it fifth on his list of the ten restaurants most worth going to in February 2026, writing that the building is still stunning and that the prices are high but the portions generous, and Time Out's Sharon Ben-David included it among Tel Aviv's 43 recommended casual restaurants in June 2026 and the city's 37 best brunches in May 2026. Its sister restaurant, Claro London, is on Waterloo Place in St James's.
