A chef restaurant in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, open since 2013, looking out over the sculpture garden, with a terrace, a bar and a private room called Grace

Pastel is a chef restaurant inside the Tel Aviv Museum of Art on Shaul HaMelech Boulevard, beside the Israeli Opera and the Cameri Theatre, and the museum describes it as looking out over its sculpture garden. By its own account it opened in 2013 in a room designed by the architects Alon Baranovich and Irena Kronenberg, in 2014 it took first place as the "most designed restaurant" in the Space Design Award Idea-Top competition, and the veteran restaurateur Itzik Hangal steers it; mako named him as its owner in 2025. Its kitchen has had several chefs: clippings on its own site from 2021 name Kobi Bachar, mako wrote in August 2022 that Gal Ben Moshe, whose restaurant in Berlin held a Michelin star, had recently arrived, and its website and booking page now say the kitchen is led by chef Teddy Kagan. It says its menu is built on fresh ingredients and changes with the seasons, and that it takes pride in its fish and seafood. The evening menu on its website runs from bread with butter, balsamic and olives, lamb pelmeni and shrimp croquettes to carrot soup, scallops, lion's mane mushroom and local fish crudo, then an octopus skewer, veal sweetbreads, calamari with lamb 'nduja and a blue crab rotolo, and main courses from pierogi and a burger to seafood linguine, stone bass with XO shrimp, goose leg confit and entrecôte. Guests sit in the main room, on an open terrace or at an intimate bar, as the museum puts it, and the restaurant hosts events of up to 120 guests in the main room, or 160 with the terrace. Beside it is Grace: mako described it in March 2025 as a small restaurant of 18 seats offering Ben Moshe's fixed tasting menu of ten changing courses for almost 700 shekels a person, and the restaurant's site now offers it as a private room for up to 20 guests, with a menu made for each event. La Liste gave Pastel 77 points in its 2026 ranking of the world's 1,000 best restaurants, one of eight from Israel, as ynet reported in November 2025. Walla's Yaniv Granot put "Pastel and Grace" sixth on his list of the ten restaurants most worth going to in January 2026, naming Hangal, Ben Moshe and Kagan together, and Time Out's June 2026 list of the 26 fine-dining restaurants it recommends in Tel Aviv includes it, crediting Ben Moshe as its chef and calling Grace, in the private room, its younger sister.

Sources disagree on these hours

Its website gives these hours on every page: closed on Sunday, 12:00 to 23:00 from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday, and on Friday 12:00 to 15:30 and 18:00 to 23:00; the business lunch is served from Monday to Thursday, 12:00 to 15:30. Its booking page on Ontopo has the same Friday, but from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday it runs from 12:00 to midnight "and until the last guest". Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has 12:00 to 22:30 from Monday to Saturday, Friday included, and closed on Sunday. d.co.il gives daytime hours that are not the restaurant's. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art around it is also closed on Sunday, and on other days opens at 10:00 and closes at 14:00 on Friday, 21:00 on Tuesday and Thursday and 18:00 on the other days; the restaurant keeps its own, later hours, and the way up from the Golda car park leads straight to its plaza. Grace, its private room, has no set hours: it is booked for events, and holds tasting evenings on dates it announces.
