Chef Yuval Ben Neriah's Asian restaurant in Levinstein Tower, open since 2013, where shared plates of Southeast Asian street food are grouped by five elements, from water to metal

Taizu is chef Yuval Ben Neriah's Asian restaurant on Derech Menachem Begin, in Levinstein Tower in central Tel Aviv. Its English pages say he opened it in 2013, and it calls its kitchen AsiaTerranean, a meeting of Asian street food and the Mediterranean kitchen. By its own account, before it opened Ben Neriah spent three months in India, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia studying street food, textures, colours, spices and flavours, then about half a year in a temporary professional kitchen where every dish was planned, cooked and documented, and for the restaurant's tenth anniversary he took the journey on to Indonesia. The menu is built as a journey from soft and delicate flavours to deep and bold ones, in groups named for the five elements, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal, and its dishes are meant to be shared at the centre of the table: crispy rice cones of fish tartare or caviar and oysters in tom kha to start, then bluefin tuna sashimi and har gow, Shanghai dumplings of veal cheek, red tuna bao, a vegetable massaman and mussels in yellow curry, and from the Metal group a fried whole sea bass, butter chicken and a Vietnamese pepper steak. Its sake list, from small family breweries in Japan, is by its own account the fruit of Ben Neriah's research. Besides the dining room it has a lounge with a shared table for about 22, a covered and air-conditioned courtyard with its own entrance, and a chef's room for up to 18 with a screen for business meetings. Its website lists Time Out's best new restaurant of 2013 and best restaurant of 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019 among its awards and links a TED talk in which Ben Neriah tells its story, and its booking page recalls his season beside Avi Biton at the MasterChef judges' table. Time Out's Sharon Ben-David, including it in a list of 26 recommended fine-dining restaurants in June 2026, wrote that Taizu is not just a safe stock but a real unicorn and singled out the Shanghai dumplings, and Time Out's list of Asian restaurants that month mentioned its Indian Sunday evenings. Channel 13 wrote in February 2026 that it had been open for 13 years. The same group runs Cafe Taizu, a more casual Asian kitchen for sit-down meals and delivery, and Ben Neriah also runs the restaurant a, further along Menachem Begin. The light rail's Carlebach station on the Red Line is about 380 metres away.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the hours on the 'when and where' page of its website, updated in July 2026: straight through from 12:00 to 22:00 from Sunday to Wednesday, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunch from 12:00 to 15:00 and dinner from 18:30 (on Friday from 17:30) to 22:30. Its booking page on Ontopo gives the same shape for the coming week, with Friday's lunch sitting until 14:30 and the last Saturday dinner booking at 22:00, and says the menu is served from 12:00 to 22:30 every day except Saturday lunch, when the Saturday set menu is served; that menu's own page says it runs until 15:30. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has 12:00 to 23:00 from Sunday to Thursday, 12:00 to 15:00 and 17:30 to 23:00 on Friday, and 12:00 to 15:30 and 18:30 to 23:00 on Saturday. Time Out's brunch list of May 2026 gave a Friday brunch from 11:00 to 14:00, while its booking page says there is no brunch at Friday lunch. Its reservations line answers from 10:00 to 23:30. d.co.il gives daytime hours that are not the restaurant's.
