Anat Kamm

Anat Kamm was born in 1987 in Jerusalem

Anat Kamm was born in Jerusalem in 1987 to Yigal Kamm, an insurance agent, and Ada Gersht, a social worker. She attended the Hebrew University Secondary School. As a teenager she wrote for the local paper Jerusalem and for the youth channel of the Walla! website.

In 2005 she joined the IDF and worked as a clerk in the office of the head of Central Command. She was later appointed assistant to the office chief. After her discharge she studied history and philosophy at Tel Aviv University.

In August 2007 she began reporting for the media channel of Walla!. During her service she had copied 2,085 documents. In September 2008 she gave more than 1,500 of them to Haaretz journalist Uri Blau.

In December 2009 she was questioned by the Shin Bet, admitted the leak and was placed under house arrest. In January 2010 she was charged with espionage. In October 2011 she was sentenced to prison for collecting, holding and disclosing classified documents, and the espionage charge was dropped.

She entered Neve Tirza prison in November 2011. In December 2012 the Supreme Court reduced her sentence. She was released early in January 2014 after serving 26 months.
