Avraham Zarbiv was born in 1972 in Beit El

Zarbiv was born on January 23, 1972. His father, Rabbi Emanuel Zarbiv, headed the rabbinical court in Tel Aviv, and his mother Devorah is the sister of Rabbi Ben Zion Abba Shaul. He grew up in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem.

He studied at the Morashah Talmud Torah under Rabbi Hillel Plesser and later at Yeshivat Itri. He served in the Givati reconnaissance unit, then studied at the Beit El yeshiva. After marrying, he studied at the Bnei David institute in Psagot.

He taught at the Beit El pre-military academy and later headed it. After being appointed a judge at the Tel Aviv regional rabbinical court, he became the academy's president. He now serves at the rabbinical courts in Tel Aviv and Ariel.

In the Iron Swords war he volunteered to operate a D9 bulldozer in a Givati engineering company without prior training, and served more than 800 reserve days. His videos from Gaza, showing prayer and building demolitions, drew wide attention. The ombudsman for judges, Asher Kula, ruled that calls he made in some of them breached ethics rules for a judge.

In 2026 he lit a torch at the Independence Day ceremony on Mount Herzl. That summer it was reported that he declined an offer of second place on the Religious Zionist Party list. He is married to Nava, has 10 children, and lives in Beit El.
