Eran Oliel was born in 1977 in Yad Eliyahu

Eran Oliel was born in Yad Eliyahu on October 17, 1977. He grew up in Kfar Saba and attended Galili High School there.

He joined the IDF in March 1996 and volunteered for the Paratroopers, serving in Battalion 101. He led a platoon in combat in southern Lebanon and later commanded several companies. In 2004 he took command of the Paratroopers' anti-tank unit during the Second Intifada.

He commanded Battalion 890 from 2011 to 2013 and was operations officer of the Gaza Division during Operation Protective Edge. In 2015 he became a colonel and commanded the Shu'alei Marom Brigade. He then headed the Operations Department and commanded the Kfir Brigade from 2019 to 2021.

After studies at the National Defense University in Washington, he was promoted to brigadier general in 2023 and named Chief Infantry and Paratroopers Officer. He held the post until 2025 and then retired from regular service. He lives in Kfar Saba, is married to Dafna and has 3 children, and holds a bachelor's degree from Ariel University.
