Oren Avman was born in 1968
Oren Avman was born in 1968. He is married with four children and lives in the Galilee.
He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and Middle East studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a master's in political science from the University of Haifa. He graduated from the IDF Command and Staff College, the National Security College and an advanced infantry course in the US Army.
He joined the IDF in 1987 and served in Golani. He later commanded battalions in Lebanon and the West Bank, and then the Menashe, Alexandroni and Kfir brigades. As a brigadier general he headed the Land Division of the Ground Forces and commanded the Idan Formation.
In June 2016 he asked to leave the IDF before taking command of the National Ground Training Center. He then founded a consulting and project management company and cofounded a startup with Tal Tinikjiu that developed a patented app for improving shooting and weapon zeroing. During the Swords of Iron War he worked on defense planning for the head of Northern Command.
