Haim Eshed

Haim Eshed was born in 1933 in Turkey

Haim Eshed was born in Turkey in 1933. He came to the Land of Israel with his parents as a baby and grew up in south Tel Aviv, where he attended the Max Fein school.

He earned a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering at the Technion. He later earned a master's degree and a doctorate in aeronautical engineering, and he studied for the doctorate in the United States from 1969.

In 1965 he joined the technology unit of Military Intelligence in research and development roles. He later headed the research and development department and retired as a brigadier general. He received the Israel Defense Prize 3 times for classified work.

As a colonel, he proposed an Israeli satellite capability to watch Sinai after the Israeli withdrawal. In 1981 he founded the Defense Ministry's satellite program directorate and led it until he retired in October 2011. He also taught as a visiting professor at Tel Aviv University and the Technion.

In December 2020 he claimed in an interview with Yediot Aharonot that the United States was in contact with aliens through a Galactic Federation. The head of the Israel Space Agency said he had gone too far, and NASA said no signs of alien life had been found.
