Michael Harari was born in 1927 in Tel Aviv

Harari was born in 1927 in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood of Tel Aviv, the son of Sarah and Yehoshua. At 13 he joined the Haganah as a courier between units.

In 1943 he joined the Palmach and took part in the raid on the Atlit detention camp and the Night of the Bridges. The British arrested him several times. He later served in the Palyam and was sent to Europe to prepare ships for Jewish immigrants.

After independence he worked in the Shin Bet, including security at Lod airport. He joined the Mossad in 1954 and served in Paris and Ethiopia. In 1970 he became head of the Caesarea branch and commanded the operation against Black September members after the 1972 Munich massacre.

In the Lillehammer affair his team killed a waiter, Ahmed Bouchiki, mistaken for Ali Hassan Salameh. He entered Entebbe airport disguised as an Italian businessman before the 1976 rescue, and in 1979 he led the killing of Salameh in Beirut. He then retired from the Mossad.

He later worked on security projects in Panama and returned to Israel around the 1989 United States invasion. Moshe Ivgy played him in the 2005 film Munich. He died in 2014.
