Moshe Rosenzweig was born in 1951 in Haifa
Moshe Rosenzweig was born on March 11, 1951, in Haifa to Malka and Shmuel, and grew up in Kfar Ata. At 14 he joined the military boarding school for command next to the Hebrew Reali School in Haifa.
He joined the Armored Corps in August 1969 and completed courses for tank commanders, officers, armor officers and company commanders. In 1972, after his mother died, he asked to move to a platoon commander post at the military boarding school in Haifa so he could care for his father. In May 1973 he married his girlfriend Yafa.
When the Yom Kippur War began, he was called to command a company in Battalion 71 of the 7th Brigade. On the first day his tank was hit and he was wounded above the eye, but he changed tanks and kept commanding. He was later also wounded in the shoulder.
On October 9, 1973, he fought in the battle of the Valley of Tears. After the tank of battalion commander Meshulam Ratess was hit, he led the rescue of its crew under fire. His own tank was then hit and caught fire, and he died of his wounds in the hospital that day. He was promoted to captain after his death and awarded the Medal of Courage.
