Uri Weisler was born in 1943 in Givat Brenner

Uri Weisler was born on March 27, 1943, in Kibbutz Givat Brenner, to Ilse and Zvi (Fritz). He grew up and was educated there. Before his army service he was a counselor in the HaMahanot HaOlim youth movement.

He joined the IDF in 1962 and served in the Shaked reconnaissance unit, first as a soldier and later as an officer. Before the Six-Day War he was called up with his reserve unit.

On June 5, 1967, his unit, part of Division 84, attacked Egyptian positions at Rafah. His half-track hit a mine and he was wounded, but he climbed back on and fired its machine gun for about half an hour while directing the evacuation of the wounded. He refused treatment and kept commanding his platoon until the fighting ended.

About a month later his unit was stationed on the Suez Canal, north of Qantara. On July 8, 1967, he was killed when an artillery shell hit his position during the Ras al-Ish incidents. He was first given a citation, later changed to the Medal of Valor, and left a wife and a son born after his death.
