Roni Ritman was born in 1964. He served in the IDF as an officer in the Combat Engineering Corps.

He joined the Israel Police in 1987, working as an interrogator and as an officer in the Tel Aviv district central unit. In the early 2000s he headed an investigations branch on trafficking in women, and later led the investigations arm of the national unit for serious and international crime. In 2006 he became head of the central unit of the Central District, and in 2007 he was named head of that national unit, a post he held until 2010.

He then headed the intelligence division until 2013 and studied at the National Security College. In August 2014 he was appointed head of Lahav 433. In 2015 he was investigated over a complaint of sexual harassment, which he denied, and the Attorney General closed the case.

The complainant petitioned the High Court against his return to his post, and in 2017 the court ordered the police commissioner to reconsider. The commissioner then placed a reprimand in his file. He announced his retirement in 2018 and later cofounded the company Sirin Cyber with Dudi Cohen.
