Shlomo Bohbot was born in 1942 in Morocco
Bohbot was born in Morocco. In 1954 he immigrated to Israel through Youth Aliyah. He grew up and was educated at Kibbutz Ein HaNatziv.
He enlisted in the IDF as a squad commander for recruits. During his service he learned that his family had arrived in Israel and lived in Ma'alot-Tarshiha, so he left the kibbutz and moved to live with them.
From 1963 to 1971 he worked in the local council's social services office. He was elected to the council in 1974 and became its head in 1976. He stayed in the post after the town became a city and lost the 2018 election to Arkady Pomerantz.
He was fifth on the Yahad list in the 1984 election, but the party won 3 seats. He entered the Knesset for Labor in 1992 and served one term, as a law barring mayors from serving in the Knesset was coming into force. In 2006 he joined Kadima and left it a year later.
In 2009 he became head of the Local Government Center. He hosts a radio program called Kav HaImut on Radio Lelo Hafsaka. He is married to Keren, and one of his children is theater and television artist Eyal Bohbot.
