Siman-Tov Ganeh was born in 1924 in Jerusalem

Siman-Tov Ganeh was born in 1924 in the Old City of Jerusalem to a Jewish family from Georgia. His father had served in the Jewish Legion. During the Arab revolt, the family left the Old City and moved to Zikhron Moshe, and as a boy he worked in a cigarette factory.

During World War II he served in the British Royal Navy on supply ships. He was discharged in April 1946, drove a taxi and joined the Lehi underground. In the War of Independence he joined the 89th Battalion of the 8th Brigade.

In the battle at Iraq Suwaydan he was badly wounded, yet he treated other wounded soldiers and returned fire while the unit pulled back. Both of his legs were later amputated. He received the Medal of Valor for his actions.

After the war he studied carpentry and drove a taxi. He married in 1950 and had 3 children. During the Six-Day War he volunteered to collect soldiers from transit stations.

In 1967 he began working as a contractor in army camps. In March 1968 he was killed when an old shell ignited from heat. The city of Ramat Gan named a square after him.
