Tamar Ziegler was born in 1971

Tamar Ziegler was born in 1971 to Ilana and Zvi Ziegler. Her father is a professor of mathematics at the Technion.

From 1991 to 2003 she studied mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, earning bachelor's and master's degrees. She wrote her doctorate on nonconventional ergodic averages under Hillel Furstenberg.

She spent five years in the United States as a postdoctoral researcher at Ohio State University, the Institute for Advanced Study and the University of Michigan. She taught at the Technion from 2007 to 2013. In 2013 she joined the Hebrew University as a full professor at the Einstein Institute of Mathematics.

With Ben Green and Terence Tao she developed higher-order Fourier analysis, which advanced the study of linear equations in primes. With Tao she extended the Green-Tao theorem to polynomial patterns. She has edited several journals and served as Editor in Chief of the Israel Journal of Mathematics.
