Yuval Gez

Yuval Gez was born in 1978

Yuval Gez was born in 1978. He attended Ahad Ha'am High School in Petah Tikva, where he studied physics and computers.

He joined the IDF in August 1996 and volunteered for the Maglan unit. He served there for more than 10 years, as a team commander in southern Lebanon and later as a company commander in the Second Lebanon War. He then fought with Battalion 101 of the Paratroopers Brigade in Operation Cast Lead.

In 2012 he took command of Battalion 101, and in May 2014 he became commander of Maglan, the first in the post who had begun his service in the unit. Under him the unit fought in Operation Protective Edge and received the Chief of Staff citation in February 2015. He later commanded the Binyamin Brigade and, from 2019 to 2021, the Paratroopers Brigade.

In December 2021 he was promoted to brigadier general and named head of a division in the General Staff's planning directorate. In January 2025, during the Swords of Iron war, he took command of the Galilee Division.

He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Ariel University and a master's degree in strategic studies from the US Army War College. He lives in Petah Tikva, is married to Ortal and has 3 children.
