על אף הוראות סעיף 12, לעניין פטירתו של חטוף כהגדרתו בחוק תגמולים לבני משפחה של חטופים ונעדרים בפעולת איבה, התשפ״ד–2023, הרשום במרשם, שפטירתו אירעה מחוץ לישראל, יחולו ההוראות לפי חוק זה החלות לעניין מי שפטירתו אירעה בישראל, ובכלל זה הוראות סעיפים 7 ו־30(ב), בשינויים המחויבים.
