פקיד רכבת לא יפעיל את סמכויותיו אלא אם כן הוא לובש מדים המזהים את תפקידו, בצבע ובצורה שלא יהיה בהם כדי להטעות כנחזים להיות מדי משטרה, עונד באופן גלוי תג המזהה אותו ואת תפקידו, וכן לאחר שהציג תעודת פקיד רכבת החתומה בידי בעל היתר ההפעלה של מסילת הברזל המקומית, המזהה אותו ואת תפקידו.
