179. שיפוט פלילי אינו מוציא שיפוט משמעתי
אחריותו המשמעתית של ימאי לפי חוק זה איננה גורעת מאחריותו הפלילית בשל אותו מעשה או מחדל, ומותר לנקוט נגדו באמצעי משמעת לפי חוק זה אף אם נענש או זוכה על אותו מעשה או מחדל בבית משפט בין במדינת ישראל ובין במדינת חוץ.
