3. תקופת הזכאות
(א)תקופת הזכאות לפי חוק זה תהיה למשך תקופת הלימודים לתואר אקדמי ראשון שלקראתו לומד הסטודנט, הנהוגה במוסדות שהמדינה משתתפת בתקציביהם, או למשך תקופת הלימודים לתואר כאמור הנהוגה במוסד שבו לומד הסטודנט, הקצר שביניהם.
(ב)על אף הוראות סעיף קטן (א), רשאי שר האוצר, בהסכמת שר החינוך, ובהתייעצות עם המועצה להשכלה גבוהה, לקבוע תקופות זכאות אחרות, בשים לב, בין השאר, לסוג התואר או לסוג המוסד שבו מתקיימים הלימודים.
