מותר לשמור בסוד את תוכן הצוואה, במקרה זה יכניס המצווה את צוואתו לתוך מעטפה שיטביע עליה חותם בית הדין בשעווה אדומה בנוכחות הקאדי, ויחתום עליה ביחד עם הקאדי וארבעה עדים. לאחר מכן יערוך הקאדי פרוטוקול על כך שיוכנס לפנקס הצוואות, והעתק מאושר ממנה יינתן לנוגע בדבר. המעטפה החתומה המכילה את הצוואה תישמר אצל הקאדי.
