לאחר מותו של המצווה תיפתח המעטפה בפני הנוגעים בדבר ותיקרא הצוואה בנוכחותם ותירשם בפנקס הצוואות ותשמר אצל הקאדי. ויינתן לאלה הנוגעים בדבר העתק מאושר ממנה.
