9. חקירות
הופנה אדם לשירות ונקבע קצין מבחן שיטפל בענינו, יעמוד הקצין בקשר עם האדם, עם משפחתו ועם בני אדם הקשורים אליו, או עם המוסדות המטפלים בו ויאסוף פרטים בדבר אישיותו של האדם, התפתחותו הגופנית, השכלית והנפשית, תנאי ביתו וסביבתו וכן נסיבות העבירה בה הוא נאשם והמניעים שהביאוהו לכך. במהלך החקירה יבקר קצין המבחן בביתו של האדם, אם ראה צורך בכך.
