Benny Friedman turned four years of voice lessons in California into a platinum record

Benny Friedman was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1984. He trained his voice for four years with the vocal coach Seth Riggs in California, and his first solo album, Taamu, came out in 2009.

The title song of his second album, Yesh Tikvah (2012), has been covered by many singers and choirs. Fill the World with Light (2016) went platinum in 2018 after selling more than 30,000 copies, and by 2023 the video for his 2017 single Ivri Anochi had passed 27 million views on YouTube.

In 2020 he recorded his first a cappella album, Whispers of the Heart, over a single week. Yama was named song of the year on Kol Chai Music's annual chart in 2022, and in August 2025 he released Be Gebentched!, his sixth solo album.
