Danny Robas started as a guitarist for other singers before writing hits of his own
Danny Robas was born in 1957 on Kibbutz Shoval and grew up in Rehovot, where in 1973 he joined the city's youth stage as a lead singer. He began his career as a guitarist for singers including Arik Sinai, Matti Caspi and Shlomo Artzi, and wrote songs for Ilanit, Nurit Galron, Vardina Cohen and others.
His first album, Misgarot (1983), produced by Matti Caspi, sold poorly at first and reached gold only 25 years later. Panim VeShemot (1987) went platinum, and Baderekh el HaOsher (1989) did even better: it went platinum within a year, Eikh Hu Shar was the most played song of the year on radio and television, and Robas was named Singer of the Year.
He hosted Tziporei Layla on Army Radio and, in 2009, the TV show Duet Israeli with Aya Korem, and his 2008 album Mashehu Khadash Matkhil brought a new hit with its title song. His latest albums are Likrat (2018) and Mekomot (2022), and in 2026 he released Ani Rotze Lehisha'er, a song with words by the author Eshkol Nevo, ahead of a summer of shows.
