Orna Datz went from a backing singer in 1985 to third place at Eurovision six years later
Orna Datz was born in 1964 and grew up in Holon. In 1985 she sang backing vocals for Yardena Arazi in the Israeli Eurovision preselection, and in 1987 she entered it herself with Moshe Datz, as the duo Orna and Moshe Datz, and came fourth with Cupidon. The duo's first album, BeOta HaMita, came out in the summer of 1988.
In 1991 the duo won the preselection and came third at Eurovision in Rome with Kan, written and composed by Uzi Hitman. Over the years it released about ten albums, and from the mid-1990s it also made records for children: the Tif VeTaf series sold about 650,000 copies. In 2008 she released her own album, Shir Eres Pnimi, produced by Moshe Daabul.
From 2001 she hosted the makeover show Mahapach on Channel 2 for six seasons, and later HaMar'a on Channel 10 and the Israeli Eurovision preselection of 2013, with Ron Shahar. She took part in Dancing with the Stars in 2012 and The Masked Singer in 2020, and on stage she has played in the musicals Mamma Mia! at Habima since 2019 and HaShana HaYafa BeHayai since 2022.
