Roni Sason went from a hotel entertainment team to Israel's stand-up stages
Roni Sason was born in Beersheba in 1975 and grew up in the Ramat Eliyahu neighbourhood of Rishon LeZion, where his family moved when he was five. After his army service he joined a hotel entertainment team, performed for teenagers around the country in the educational play Lo LaSamim, and trained as an actor with Yigal Adika.
He appeared in the stand-up shows Over Kol Gvul (2005) and Bip Comedy Bar (2011), and in 2011 directed and produced the TV film Le'an She'at Nosaat, which won best drama at the Haifa International Film Festival. He has acted in the comedies Israel (2013), Ramzor (2014) and Tzomet Miller (2018), led the children's series Sofshelly (2016), and played Smee in Peter Pan and Toto in the musical HaKosem!
His stand-up takes on relationships, children, ageing parents and the news, with clever humour and no vulgarity, in a show meant to speak to everyone. In 2023 he wrote and performed Erev HaStandup HaGadol; besides his public shows he performs at company and private events, and he is represented by Doron Friedman Productions, the company behind Comedy Bar.
