Udi Kagan made Mashiach himself on YouTube before it reached television
Udi Kagan was born in 1981 and grew up in Ramat HaSharon. In 2004 a French producer signed him, and he recorded his first album, Tears and Candies, in Paris. Back in Israel, he studied film at the Minshar School of Art in Tel Aviv.
In 2013 he and his high-school friend Dana Polig made Mashiach, a web series about a former singer who runs a failing roadside inn, and put it on YouTube themselves. Within days it went viral. In 2018 it became a TV series for Cellcom tv and Keshet 12, and in 2020 it won him the Israeli TV Academy Award for best actor in a comedy series.
He joined Eretz Nehederet in 2015 and became a regular a year later, playing characters such as Eyal Shani, Adir Miller and Shlomo Artzi. From 2021 to 2023 he hosted Carpool Karaoke on Kan 11. Since 2016 he has been doing stand-up, in shows he writes with Dana Polig that mix comedy with singing and piano.
