Yona Kapach won a stand-up contest at acting school and turned her own life into a show
Yona Kapach was born in 1989 in Petah Tikva and grew up there. At 27 she began studying acting at the Anat Barzilai acting school, and in her second year she won first place in a stand-up competition, which earned her a scholarship to the school's comedians' course.
She began her stage career in 2018 in Nashi VeTehani, a line of women stand-up comedians founded by Hagit Ginzburg, where she caught the eye of Adi Ashkenazi. The two wrote and edited Kapach's stand-up show together, and in 2020 they shared a stage. In her stand-up she tells her own life story with humour and in clean language, often about household money and the cost of living.
On television she began a weekly comic segment on Erev Im Shai Shtern on Kan 11 in June 2021 and later joined its panel of comedians, and in January 2023 she became a regular on Kan 11's satirical talk show Ma SheTagidu. In 2025 she played Alexis in the children's comedy Malon Hotel on Kan Educational, and she tours the country with her stand-up show.
