A kosher fish restaurant on Ashdod's promenade in Rova Alef, opened in 2009 by chef Yehi Zino and Eran Jano, whose family has fished for three generations

Pescado, Spanish for fish, is a kosher fish restaurant at 1/12 Martin Buber Street, on the promenade of Ashdod's Rova Alef, near the city's port. By its own account it opened in 2009, with Eran Jano as manager and Yehi Zino as chef, and the day's catch comes from Jano's family, who have been in the fishing trade for three generations; Walla's critic wrote in 2023 that Zino runs it as co-owner with Jano, of Zano Dagim, one of Israel's largest fish traders. Zino is self-taught: the Times of Israel wrote that he started in local restaurants at 18, and he told Aish in 2023 that he learned to cook at home, in a Moroccan kitchen, then trained on the job under chefs who specialised in fish. It has been kosher since the day it opened, which he said was meant to give businessmen who keep kosher a place to meet clients, and it is closed on Friday and on Shabbat and opens again on Saturday night. Its site names three principles behind the menu and the specials: fresh ingredients, simple preparation and bold flavours. The menu runs from vegetable starters and raw and cooked fish starters to fish mains and a single entrecôte, beside a specials menu built every day on the season's produce and catch. Dishes the press singles out include the fried red drum wing, yellowfin tuna on challah, house-cured bottarga over a fried egg and sea bass roe in a Moroccan sauce. In 2022 it came 24th on the first Middle East and North Africa's 50 Best Restaurants list, the only kosher restaurant on it, and won Best Kosher Restaurant at the American Express Excellence in Israeli Cuisine Awards. Early in 2023 Zino told Aish that the waiting list had once reached three months and that 70 to 80 percent of its guests came from outside Ashdod, and mako wrote in 2025 that a free table is not always easy to find. It has an inner dining room with seats at the bar and an outer one, where the open-air seating in front has been enclosed, and ynet wrote in 2018 of bossa nova playing and service at the level of a chef's restaurant.

Sources disagree on these hours

Its website gives Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to 16:00 and 18:00 to 22:30, and Saturday night from an hour and a half after Shabbat ends until 23:00. It gives no Friday hours, and its chef told Aish in 2023 that it is closed all day on Friday. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, keeps the same lunch but closes at 23:30 from Sunday to Thursday and opens at 21:00 on Saturday night, and the copy of that listing in its Tabit booking record, of 14 September 2026, has lunch until 16:30. Its booking schedule on Tabit, last changed in October 2023, runs from 12:00 to midnight from Sunday to Thursday and from 20:00 to midnight on Saturday. mako's list of April 2025 printed Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to midnight and Saturday 19:45 to midnight, the municipal tourism company's page gives Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to midnight and Saturday from the end of Shabbat to midnight, and d.co.il gives Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to midnight and Saturday 21:00 to midnight.
