Idi Israelovitch's fish and seafood restaurant in the industrial zone at the entrance to Ashdod, its dining room hung with gear from fishing boats

Idi Dagim is a fish and seafood restaurant on HaBosem Street in Kiryat Eitanim, the industrial zone at the entrance to Ashdod. It belongs to Idi Israelovitch, a chef and restaurateur born in 1952 who has lived in Ashdod since he was 17. By Hebrew Wikipedia's account he opened a fish restaurant called Idi in 1982, set it up again near the Ashdod port junction in 1993 and moved it to its present address in 1994; its own site speaks of four decades of cooking. The dining room is hung with gear from fishing boats: mako wrote in April 2025 that it looks like a maritime museum, and ynet described the air of a members' club and an open kitchen where Idi now and then cooks fish stews himself. The menu, in mako's words, does not stray from the basics: ikra, the Dudu salad of tomatoes, garlic and hot pepper that the press calls famous, sea bream, sea bass, grouper and tilapia fried, grilled or baked, shrimp, calamari, mussels, scallops, lobster and paella for two, with a long list of Israeli wines that runs to bottles of Katzrin from 1993. From Sunday to Thursday until 17:00 and on Friday until 16:00 a business lunch puts salads on the table with a main course, and on Saturday night and Sunday evening a set meal costs 170 shekels. By its own account a guest musician plays every Thursday, and it hosts family and social events; it also says the Ministry of Tourism named it a senior outstanding tourism provider and that it holds a rating in the Gault&Millau guide. ynet wrote in 2018 that its lunchtime tables fill with businesspeople, military attachés and politicians, many from outside the city, and in October 2025 mako chose its fish, grilled or fried, as the one dish to taste in Ashdod in its list of 30 dishes in 30 cities. Idi has also hosted a television cooking show and written a cookbook, and he runs a second restaurant on the beach by the marina.

Its website gives Sunday to Saturday, 12:00 to 23:00, and so do its booking page on Ontopo, where the business lunch runs until 17:00, and the city's tourism site. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, closes at 22:00 from Sunday to Wednesday and at midnight from Thursday to Saturday, and mako's list of April 2025 gave 12:00 to midnight every day. The business lunch is served from Sunday to Thursday until 17:00 and on Friday until 16:00.
