A kosher kebab restaurant in Bat Galim, a branch of the Haifa family business that began at a stall in the Turkish market

Yakov Kabab's Bat Galim branch, on HaAliya HaShniya Street, is one of four branches of a Haifa family kebab business. By the account the local paper Colbo gave in July 2024, its founder, Yaakov, began in the early 1980s with a stall and a small charcoal grill in the Turkish market that served only kebab, and in 1986 moved to Moshe Aharon Street at the market's edge, where he was still making the same kebab; the branches in Bat Galim, Kiryat Haim and Nesher are run by members of his family and follow the same recipe. mako dates the Bat Galim branch to 1989, the year the chain gives for its founding. The kebab is beef, barely seasoned and pressed flat on the grill as it cooks, which Colbo likened to a smash burger. Here, mako wrote in April 2026, the kebabs wait in a chilled window, are flattened and grilled to order and go three to a portion into a thin, soft pita, and the service is quick and well drilled, with a fast turnover; mako called the place a Haifa kebab institution and its kebab probably one of the tastiest in the country. Besides kebab there are turkey shawarma, skewers of chicken thigh and hearts, chicken livers, spicy sausages, schnitzel, Moroccan meatballs, Jerusalem mixed grill and falafel, served in a pita, a laffa or a baguette baked on the premises, or on a tray with a hot side, each with a choice of sixteen salads and eight sauces and spreads. The chain's website calls it one of its busiest branches and invites diners to eat there or order delivery across Haifa, the Krayot and Check Post. The kitchen is kosher and meat, under the Haifa rabbinate, and it closes for Shabbat.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the hours on its Google listing, as Restaurant Guru copies it (updated on 15 August 2026), which has it closed on Saturday; mako gave the same Sunday to Thursday hours when it visited in April 2026. The chain's website gives no hours. d.co.il gives Sunday to Thursday 09:00 to 23:00 and Friday 09:00 to 15:00. Its ordering page takes orders from 11:00 to 20:30, Sunday to Thursday, and from 10:00 to 15:00 on Friday, and Wolt delivers from 11:00 to 21:00, and on Friday until 17:00: those are ordering hours. No source gives it hours on Saturday night.
