A restaurant, café and bookshop in a Nahalat Shiva courtyard that has hosted Israel's writers and poets since 1994.

Tmol Shilshom opened in 1994 on the Nahalat Shiva pedestrian street, in one of the first neighbourhoods built outside the Old City walls, a quarter of Jerusalem-stone houses with arches and old alcoves. It was set up as a restaurant that is also a bookshop: shelves full of books, painting exhibitions and artworks stand between the arches. From the start it has been a home for literature, with evenings at which Yehuda Amichai, Amos Oz, A.B. Yehoshua, David Grossman, Zeruya Shalev, Meir Shalev and many others met their readers, alongside young writers, musicians and artists. The kitchen is dairy and kosher. It has two halls, the larger for up to 55 people, for private meals, celebrations and conferences, with a sound system and a projector. Its home page opens with Amos Oz's line that Jerusalem has one holy place over which no blood need be spilled: Tmol Shilshom.

Sunday to Thursday as its contact page gives them. On Friday it opens at 08:30 and, by its own page, closes about an hour before Shabbat; 14:00 is the Friday closing on its booking page, which lists Sunday to Thursday as 09:00 to 22:30.
