A sourdough café and bakery on the pedestrian street, known for big sandwiches in thick panini bread

Luma is a café and artisan bakery on HaMeyasdim, the old pedestrian street of Zichron Yaakov, and everything on its menu is built on sourdough. Mor Yitzhaki, who left a career in finance and ran a patisserie business in Tel Aviv, opened it in May 2025 with business partners and his older brother Tom, a contestant on Bake Off in 2018. The display case holds big sandwiches in thick sourdough panini bread, warmed or seared to order in the oven behind the counter, and a short row of cakes, from Basque cheesecake to bostock; by Yitzhaki's account the spreads and fillings are all made on site. Outside there are seats under a large tree and a big terrace. In its first months it also opened in the evening for Roman-style sourdough pizza, wine and cocktails. Mornings are busy: mako found it full one morning and advised coming early, and in April 2026 mako's food desk named Luma's sandwiches among the five tastiest street foods in Israel and wrote that its egg salad is the best in the country. It is kosher, dairy, under the local rabbinate.
