Amichai Chikli was born in 1981 in Jerusalem
Chikli was born in Jerusalem in 1981 to Rabbi Eitan Chikli and artist Camille Chikli, who had emigrated from France. The family lived for a time in Kibbutz Hanaton. After high school he spent a year at a pre-military program in Ma'ayan Baruch.
He served in the Golani Brigade and later commanded a company in the Egoz Unit. He earned a bachelor's degree in security and Middle Eastern studies, then a master's degree in diplomacy and security at Tel Aviv University. In 2010 he founded the Tavor Academy, a leadership program, and became its director in 2017.
He entered the Knesset in 2021 on the Yamina list. He was the only Yamina member to vote against the new government, and in April 2022 his faction declared him a defector. He resigned from the Knesset in July 2022 to run with Likud.
The election committee chairman first disqualified his candidacy, but the Supreme Court overturned the decision. After the 2022 election he became Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Minister for Social Equality. He resigned the Social Equality post in January 2024, saying he aimed to save public money.
As minister he worked with diaspora communities and on monitoring antisemitism. He is married to Hadas, and they have 3 children. He lives in Kibbutz Hanaton.
