Ayelet Shaked

Ayelet Shaked was born in 1976 in Tel Aviv

Shaked was born in Tel Aviv on 7 May 1976 and grew up in the Bavli neighborhood. Her father, an accountant, is of Iraqi Jewish descent, and her mother was a Bible teacher from families of the First Aliyah. As a teenager she was an instructor in the Scouts.

She served in the IDF with the Golani Brigade. She then earned a BSc in electrical engineering and computer science at Tel Aviv University. She worked at Texas Instruments as a software engineer and later as a marketing manager.

From 2006 to 2008 she ran the office of Benjamin Netanyahu. In 2010 she founded the My Israel movement with Naftali Bennett and led it until May 2012. In 2012 she left Likud for the Jewish Home and entered the Knesset in 2013.

In the Knesset she chaired the committee on the equal sharing of the burden bill and initiated laws including the 2016 NGO law. She became Justice Minister in May 2015. In 2018 she co-founded the New Right, and in 2019 she led the Yamina alliance.

She served as Minister of the Interior from 2021 to 2022. In 2022 she founded Zionist Spirit. She is married to Ofir Shaked, and they have a son and a daughter.
