Itai Veruv

Itai Veruv was born in 1966 in Ramat HaKovesh

Itai Veruv was born on April 14, 1966, and grew up on Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh. He lives in Moshav Netiv HaAsara, is married to Yael and has 6 children.

He joined the IDF in 1985 and served in the Nahal paratroop battalion, rising from platoon to company commander. He later commanded the 101st Battalion in fighting against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. He commanded the 55th Brigade during the Second Lebanon War and led the Kfir Brigade from 2007 to 2009.

He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in military strategy from the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom. He also studied at the Command and Staff College and the National Defense College.

As a brigadier general he was chief infantry and paratroopers officer, commander of the Gaza Division and Ground Forces Chief of Staff. Promoted to major general in 2019, he led the Military Colleges and from 2020 also the Depth Corps, until July 2023.

As Kfir Brigade commander, his court testimony on the use of force led to a reprimand. A later criminal investigation was closed by the Military Advocate General.
