Tuval Gvirzman was born in 1959 in Hadera
Tuval "Tuli" Gvirzman was born in Hadera on June 26, 1959, to Hayuta and Yaakov Gvirzman. His family belonged to the Gvirzman and Hochberg families, early settlers of Hadera. His father died when he was 6.
He attended the Ahad Ha'am elementary school in Hadera. He then studied at the Hadera academic high school, where he completed a biology track. As a child, he inspired the song "Tulik" by Rama Samsonov, performed by Oshik Levi at a children's song festival in 1978.
He began his army service in the Armored Corps as a tank commander and later finished officers' course. In July 1981 he became commander of a company in Battalion 71 of the 188th Brigade. On July 21, 1982, tanks of his company hit 18 Syrian tanks and 4 armored personnel carriers without any casualties in the company.
On August 4, 1982, he was killed by a direct shell hit at Beirut airport while running under fire with an extinguisher toward a burning armored carrier with wounded soldiers inside. He received a commendation from Northern Command chief Amir Drori and was promoted to major after his death. He was buried in the military cemetery in Hadera, and a square there was named for him in 2011.
