Dikla grew up in Beersheba on Arabic music and made it part of Israeli pop
Dikla was born Dikla Dori in Beersheba in 1973, grew up there and never studied music formally. Her songs mix pop with the Arabic music she heard growing up, above all Umm Kulthum and Farid al-Atrash, and with Mediterranean singers such as Zohar Argov. Her debut album, Ahava Musika (2000), was named by Yedioth Ahronoth one of the five best albums of 2001, and in July 2002 she played the summer festival at Lincoln Center in New York.
She also writes for others, and in 2009 composed Mono for Shlomi Sarenga. Her fourth album, Ve'Im Preda (2014), was her big breakthrough: its title song and Sheva BaErev both topped the Media Forest and Galgalatz weekly charts. Machmal Nafshi, a 2015 duet with Shlomo Artzi, reached the top of the Media Forest Hebrew chart, Hu Kotev Li Mami (2016) entered it at number one, and that year she was named the most played artist in Israel.
In May 2018 she began hosting a weekly two-hour show on Galgalatz, and that autumn she was a judge on Reshet 13's The Four. She played Umm Kulthum in the musical Inta Omri (2022) and a police officer in Kan 11's Hooligans (2025). In October 2025 she opened a new show at the Barby club in Tel Aviv, which sold out, and on 24 August 2026 she released her seventh album, Yofi Shavur, with duets with Moshik Afia and Maggie Azarzar.
