Dudu Tassa released his first album at 15 and later brought his grandfather's songs back to the stage

Dudu Tassa was born in Tel Aviv in 1977 and grew up in the Hatikva Quarter, and at 15 he released his first album, Ohev et HaShirim. After Yoter Barur (2000) he joined the house band of Eli Yatzpan's late-night show as guitarist, and the exposure brought his third album, Mitokh Bechira (2003), a much wider audience and plenty of radio play.

In 2011 he founded Dudu Tassa & the Kuwaitis, which plays the Iraqi and Kuwaiti songs of his grandfather and great-uncle, the Al-Kuwaity brothers, in new arrangements. The band toured the United States and Europe, played Coachella and SXSW, and in 2017 opened for Radiohead on its US tour and at its concert in Israel.

He won ACUM's composer prize for Ir UVehalot (2014) and an Ophir Award for the score of Mami (2020), a film in which he also played a lead role. He made Bdal Shel Or with Berry Sakharof in 2020 and Jarak Qaribak, reworkings of Middle Eastern love songs, with Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood in 2023, and in April 2026 released Ee, written with Alma Zohar.
