Gal De Paz grew up on blues and 1960s rock and found her voice in Janis Joplin's songs
Gal De Paz was born in Eilat, grew up in Caesarea and studied at Rimon School of Music. She grew up on blues, rock, jazz and the songs of the 1960s, and Janis Joplin, whom she first heard at 16, shaped her early singing: one of the first songs that made her known was Ani VeKobi Sheli, her Hebrew version of Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee.
Her first album, Blues LaHalom (2010), was blues rock in Hebrew; the albums after it, starting with Goldie (2013), were indie rock in English. In 2014 she founded De Paz Band, for which she writes all the original material, and in May 2017 the band opened for Aerosmith in Park HaYarkon before 50,000 people. Since 2015 she has also sung with Lucille Crew, Yishgav Dotan's hip-hop and funk band, performing with it across Europe.
In late 2025 she competed in HaKokhav HaBa, the show that chose Israel's singer for Eurovision 2026, and finished second. Her first solo concert in the Lowy hall of Heichal HaTarbut in Tel Aviv was set for 30 July 2026, with guests including Red Band and Ester Rada. She also teaches voice, songwriting and vocal production.
