Lior Narkis moved from Turkish-style songs to Mediterranean pop, and took it all the way to Eurovision
Lior Narkis was born in Holon in 1976 and grew up there. His first album, Tfilat Hayai, came out in 1994, made up mostly of songs in the Turkish style, and its song Kmo Parpar was a big hit. After Simanim (1998) he moved from Turkish-style music to light Mediterranean pop.
Rak Itakh (2000) brought his biggest hit, Lechol Echad Yesh, a duet with Shlomi Shabat with words by Uzi Hitman, which was chosen song of the year on Reshet Gimel's annual Hebrew chart. In 2003 he represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in Riga with Milim La'Ahava, which finished 19th. In 2009 he played Heichal HaTarbut in Tel Aviv for the first time, and in 2010 his album Erev Tov went gold within two weeks and he made his first appearance at the Caesarea amphitheatre.
Im Tirtzi (2012), Yahalom (2014) and Asinu Historia (2016) followed, and in 2017 he sang at the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah Games. Since then he has released mostly singles and duets: HaWhiskey VeHaYayin (2023) reached number one on the Media Forest Hebrew chart. In January 2025 he headlined Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv, with Netta Barzilai as a guest, and that October he released Dissonance, his 16th studio album.
