Matisyahu turned reggae, rock and beatboxing into an American Top 40 hit

Matisyahu, born Matthew Paul Miller in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1979, grew up in White Plains, New York. His music mixes reggae, rock and hip hop with beatboxing, and his first album, Shake Off the Dust... Arise, came out in 2004.

The live album Live at Stubb's (2005) and the studio album Youth (2006) both went gold in the United States, and King Without a Crown became a Top 40 hit there. In June 2006 he opened for Sting in Israel.

One Day, from the album Light (2009), also went gold. He has recorded with Akon, Avicii, Infected Mushroom and Dirty Heads, and in 2025 he released his eighth studio album, Ancient Child.
