Ninet Tayeb won the first Kokhav Nolad, then wrote her own way into rock

Ninet Tayeb was born in 1983 and grew up in Kiryat Gat. In 2003 she won the first season of Kokhav Nolad, taking 49.3% of the audience vote in the final at Nitzanim Beach, and from 2004 she starred in the daily musical drama HaShir Shelanu.

Her debut album, Yechefa (Barefoot), produced by Aviv Geffen, came out in 2006 and was declared gold the day after its release. For her second, Komunikativi (2009), she wrote all the lyrics and most of the music, a change of musical direction. Her third, Sympathetic Nervous System (2012), was written in English and recorded in Liverpool.

She won Best Israeli Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2009 and 2012, and has sung on albums by the British musician Steven Wilson. On screen she played Yaeli in When Heroes Fly (2018) and Mimi in Fireflies (2025), and in June 2026 she released her seventh studio album, Ani Nina (I'm Nina).
