Sha'anan Streett wrote songs from the age of 14 and began his music career at 25 with Hadag Nahash
Sha'anan Streett was born in Jerusalem in 1971 and grew up there. He began writing songs at 14 but only started his music career at 25, after a chance meeting with Dudush Klemes that led to the hip-hop band Hadag Nahash. He is the band's lead singer and one of its lyricists, and he wrote most of the songs on its first album, HaMechona Shel HaGroove (2000).
His first solo album, Hevzek Or Holef (2007), was set mostly to music by Avi Leibovich, with guests including Chava Alberstein, Ahuva Ozeri and Dana Adini. HaKol LeTova (2014) is sung in English and was recorded in Barcelona, with music by Shlomi Shaben, Chava Alberstein, Berry Sakharof and others, and it won the ACUM achievement of the year award. Idealim (2021) took two years to record and has guests Dudu Tassa, Berry Sakharof, Karolina, Riff Cohen and Kutiman. In November 2025 he released Bati Levader with DJ Mesh.
Away from music he co-wrote the film Pla'ot (2013) with Avi Nesher and acted in it, hosted Hayot Bama on Israeli Educational Television and Matana LaHag on Kan 11, created the documentary series Ahavat Hayai about fan-owned football clubs, and in 2021 published his first novel, Rega Netzach. In 2001 he founded Festival BeShekel, a non-profit that brings shows to neighbourhoods and outlying towns for a one-shekel ticket.
