Yair Nitzani wrote Radio Hazak for T-Slam and went on to records, satire and the stage

Yair Nitzani was born in Beersheba in 1958. During his army service at Galei Tzahal he met Izhar Ashdot, and with Danny Bassan they formed T-Slam, which broke through at the end of 1980 with Radio Hazak. Nitzani played keyboards, was the band's artistic director and wrote hits such as Partzufa Shel HaMedina and Tnu Li Rock'n'Roll, until the band split in 1983.

After the split he joined Erez Tal and Avri Gilad on Ma Yesh, the Galei Tzahal comedy show whose parody radio announcer, HaAshem Tamid, became the hero of his solo hit, and in 1986 he released the album HaAshem Tamid Medaber UMezamer, with Shir HaMangal. He rose to chief executive of the Hed Artzi record company, where he discovered acts such as HaChaverim Shel Natasha and Adam, and in 1990 he founded his own company, Yair Nitzani Music.

On television he wrote and hosted the satire show Ahorei HaChadashot on Channel 10 and was a judge on Kokhav Nolad in 2011, and from 2011 to 2023 he wrote a weekly satirical column, collected in his 2014 book Merim Gaba. In September 2023 he premiered his stage show Holech Pazur, and in 2026 he marked 40 years of HaAshem Tamid with the album's first vinyl edition.
