Yehudit Ravitz was already writing and composing songs as a teenager in Beersheba
Yehudit Ravitz grew up in Beersheba and was already writing and composing songs as a teenager. She served in the Combat Engineering Corps entertainment troupe, in 1977 became the singer of the band Sheshet, and the same year her performance of Leah Goldberg's Slichot was named song of the year on Reshet Gimel's annual chart.
In 1978 she recorded The Sixteenth Sheep with Yoni Rechter, Gidi Gov and David Broza, and in 1979 she released her first solo album. Ba'a MeAhava (1987), the best-selling of her albums, established her as a leading rock singer and composer, and she has set poems by Leah Goldberg, Yehuda Amichai and Dalia Ravikovitch to music.
She has also produced albums for Corinne Allal, Ehud Banai and Keren Peles. ACUM gave her its lifetime achievement award in 2022, her 13th album, Ani MiSham, came out in December 2024, and in January 2025, after a break from performing that began in 2016, she came back to the stage in the reunion show of The Sixteenth Sheep.
